Concert Band is the 9th Grade Ensemble at Fort Zumwalt West High School.  This ensemble  begins rehearsing at the conclusion of marching band season (typically the end of October) and then meets as a class for 2nd semester.  All 9th grade band students begin their high school concert band journey in this ensemble and then have the opportunity to audition for Symphonic Winds & Percussion or Wind Ensemble for their 10-12th grade years.  The group performs several concerts as well as participates in the Missouri State Large Ensemble Festival each year.  A heavy focus on both individual and ensemble instrumental performance is emphasized and  it is in this course that students are first introduced to some of the great works of the wind-band repertoire.
